This entry-level headset is quite a pleasant surprise. If some inexpensive VR headsets are very poorly designed, this is not the case with this model which is assembled with good quality plastics. We are obviously not at the level of an Oculus Quest unboxing, we are satisfied with what we find in the box.
The opening to wedge the smartphone is simple but effective, the nylon straps are sturdy, and the imitation leather, for the headphones and the eye area is quite thick. It is a triple strap, with which passes on the sides and on the top of the head. We adjust the size using scratch, to adapt it to the size of our head. It will hold perfectly on all heads.
The comfort is good, the foams are rather generous, and the imitation leather is perforated around the eyes. There is a little foam at the nose, so as not to have the slightest discomfort at this level. Once on the head, the weight is well distributed, and we will be able to play for several tens of minutes, without the slightest problem.
The headphones are very wide, they encompass the ears well to effectively cut off ambient noise. The foams are again quite thick, it does not tighten too much and the comfort is very satisfactory. Finally, the maintenance is also very good. Once all the settings have been made, you can move your head vigorously, without fear, the VR headset will not fall.
Most smartphones are compatible with this Shinecon VR headset, as long as the screen is between 4.6 and 6 inches. If you have a 4-inch smartphone, it is surely not suitable for VR, although some headsets will be able to accommodate it more easily, such as the Elegiant VR headset.
A hatch opens easily to give access to the smartphone support area. There is a system of wedges on spring which perfectly locks the latter and keeps it right in front of the lenses. A cover on the front can be removed, to cool your mobile more easily if it were to heat up and to remove any mist that could form during use. I did not encounter this problem during my test, but the Samsung Galaxy S9 that I own gets very little heat, other smartphones will add a little more heat.
A mini jack cable is connected directly to the smartphone, to have the sound in the headphones. We can do without it, but the immersion is still better than simply with the sound of our cell phone
